Consultation on HMICFRS’ proposed inspection programme for Round 3

His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) has opened their consultation for their proposed inspection programme of fire and rescue services for 2023/24.  The consultation which opened on 9 May and concludes on 6 June, will be the third full round of inspections of England’s fire and rescue services.

HMICFRS’ consultation document provides details on proposals and asks for views on whether the right areas of FRS’ activities are covered.  Responses to this consultation can be submitted via email to HMICFRSinspectionsadmin@hmicfrs.gov.uk or in writing to the Chief Operating Officer, HMICFRS, Floor 8, 23 Stephenson Street, Birmingham B2 4BJ.

His Majesty’s Chief Inspector (HMCI) of Fire and Rescue Services will then consider respondents’ views and if appropriate to do so, change the proposed inspection programme before putting it to the Home Secretary for approval.  In accordance with section 28A(2), Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004, HMCI of Fire and Rescue Services must obtain the approval of the Secretary of State for an inspection programme or inspection framework before the inspectors act in accordance with it.
